The blog hop is hosted by Jennifer by Crazy-for-Books.com. It's a fun way to discover to new blogs and make new online friends. This week's question:Do you use a rating system for your reviews and if so, what is it and why?
Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee!

Oh yeah, there was a question for this one. What is the first book that I remember reading? The one I remember most vividly was "Are You My Mother?" about this little bird that got lost and is looking for it's mother. I had my mom read that to me every night. I also remember a lot of Sesame St. books, especially Cars, Trains, and Airplanes or something to that effect. I still have most of these books. I hope they'll still be relevant when I have children (I keep pushing the number of years back every time I have to go to work).

Hey! I'm from the blog hop.
Your blog is wonderful! I think our rating systems are quite similar. :D I'm looking forward to reading more from you, so I've newly followed. ;)
Hope you have a lovely Friday!

Naajela- Glad someone agrees with me! Apparently a lot of people look for the rating and don't bother to read the review if it got a bad rating. Books are so subjective, I think the reader needs to read the review. Find out if it's even a subject they like. I've found several suspense novels that sound great but they have serial killers in it. Forget it- don't do serial killers after living in Florida for so long. Seems they migrate there. But right now, I'm reading a mystery series to review for an author and it's terrific. However, if you don't like mystery even if I gave it five stars you aren't going to like it. My site is YA, but I stray ever now and again-need some variety. The character is biracial and lives with a Creek Native American living on her land. She's so determined about saving her ancestral home that she's willing to do illegal things to save her home. I love the series so far and enjoy the break.
Anyway, did you have the summer off? I know Fall semester must be starting again. I'm envious. I loved school. I'd go back if I could afford it.
Have a great hop!
Heather
@Tina: Thanks for stopping by. I'll stop by your blog as well. Thanks for following.
@Buried in Books: I know. I was starting to get a little nervous with not having ratings, but I'm glad there's a few people out there that don't rate their books. I typically read YA as well, but I do read adult books on occasions, but very rarely. There is just something about the immediacy of YA that just appeals to me. That story sounds interesting. I can read any genre as long as the writing is good. I tend to get sucked into genres by good stories, like Hunger Games, I'm obsessed with dystopias and Leviathan has me obsessed with steampunk.
I took summer session, 2 classes a session both five weeks each. (in fact I should be studying right now) We don't start until Sept 21, we're on the quarter system.
Thanks, have a good hop too. =)
Hello! Hopping through! This looks like a great site---I'll be checking in often :) I love you banner...this is one of my favorite fonts!!:) (Yes, I'm a font addict as well as a book addict!)
Hi! Happy Friday! Stopping by for the blog hop! Have a wonderful day!

Hopping through. I know what you mean about liking almost everything. Most of my ratings are a 3.5 or a 4 - most often a 4. I usually don't read a book unless I think I'll like it.

Hi, just returning your hop! I use a 5-star rating system but I do find it difficult to decide on a rating sometimes, so I see your point :) Overall I think it is helpful in giving the reader a general idea of my impression of the book, but to see what I thought of it in detail, they'd have to read the review.
Happy Friday!! Well said about the ratings. I do however have a blush rating to give those reading the review an idea on how steamy a book gets. I've always wished that a "sex rating" was included because it prepares me for what kind of scenes I might find. So it was the first rating I set up when I started.
Hope you enjoy your weekend and come visit if you have some free time :D

Stopping by for the Hop & Follow.
I just recently started using a rating system, but I'm not sure if I want to keep it. It's hard to rate books, and it is my opinion, and, well, what if it's the type of book you like and I said it sucked?
Hey Najela, thanks a lot for visiting and following my blog earlier!
I love your layout, and I can't wait to come back for more! So you'll see me around. Have a great weekend.
I don't care for book rating either and only do so when a site I post the review requires it.
Blessings & a bit o' sunshine!

Hopping over...
I'm so interested to see all the bloggers who DON'T use rating systems... I was previously under the impression that nearly everyone did! I do like blogs that say WHY they weren't to fond of a book instead of just assigning it a star rating... because ratings are always so subjective!
Ten Cent Notes
Hi, just hopping by again to let you know I've given you an award
here !
Hey hope I drove a little traffic your way. But I think you've done your own work. Looks like you'll hit 100 next week! I have a book called Nevermore coming this week that not many people seem to know about. It's based on Edgar Allan Poe and a boy obsessed with his work who seems to be being pulled into his works and the girl who is falling for him who is trying to save him. I love Poe, so I'm excited about it. I'm going to try to read it this week and post a review of it so everyone can run out and buy a copy! (If it is good)! Heather
